Le Domaine de la Rochette is in the heart of the Loire Valley. It is nestled amongst the many beautiful chateaux of the region, the closest being Chenonceau, Amboise, Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher, Chambord, Blois, ... The Vineyard is situated on the sides of the river Cher with the majority of vineyards on the best side of the river. The vineyard is made up of 31 hectares of a red grape variety and 15 hectares of a white grape variety. The soil type is “perruche” namely clay and flint. The Vineyard comes under “Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée Touraine”. This is the quality-control system imposed on the production of higher quality wines, its labelling indicating the specific vineyard and the approved wine growing area. Three generations of fathers and sons have grown wine on this 46 hectare vineyard. François Leclair’s first concern is quality.“As a wine producer, I take great care of my vineyards and the making of my wines. The wines are monitored by an approved oenological laboratory. I am able to benefit from my knowledge of wine making combining modern technology and traditional methods.”
